How-to guides
Create and approve a template
Save a custom layout, validate its sample documents, and approve the revision for use.
Choose a layout for a résumé
If you want an existing layout, choose a built-in template or an Approved saved revision when you create the draft.
To adjust that draft's layout, use its available template controls. Inspect the PDF after each adjustment.
Save a custom template
Use the style controls to adjust the template. To create a template, follow these steps.
- Open Templates.
- Select Create template.
- Choose a base.
- Open the template editor and adjust its Appearance settings.
- Select Save draft version.
If you use AI template assistance, describe the layout and constraints you want. Follow Review AI suggestions before accepting the proposal.
In the proposal, inspect the PDF, Extracted text, and Checks tabs. Select Review current preview if a newer preview has finished, then Accept as Draft when it is ready.
Validate and approve the revision
Code editing is optional and lives in Settings → Advanced tools.
Run validation on the exact saved revision you want to approve.
- Open the saved template version.
- Select Test with sample résumés.
- Wait for the sample documents to finish.
- Inspect every sample PDF, including each page of longer samples.
- If validation fails, correct the template and save a new Draft revision.
- After validation passes, review the sample PDFs and any layout warnings.
- Select Approve this template revision.
