How-to guides

Review AI suggestions

Inspect a proposal and choose whether to apply the proposed change.

Start an assistance task

AI tasks can send selected inputs to an external service. Check the selected material and provider/model before starting.

  1. Open the source, job target, wording item, or template you want help with.
  2. Connect your own provider in Settings if you have not already. See Connect your AI provider.
  3. Open its AI assistance controls and check AI for this action.
  4. Select the inputs required by the task.
  5. Enter your request, if the task includes an instruction field.
  6. Start the task.
  7. Open the proposal when the task completes.

If assistance is unavailable, follow the manual task guide or contact the person running River.

Accept or reject a proposal

Review the complete proposal before making a decision.

  1. Compare the proposal with the source material and current content.
  2. Check factual support, omissions, and changed meaning.
  3. For a requirement map, inspect removed requirements and affected evidence associations.
  4. If you want the proposed change, use the acceptance action.
  5. If you do not want the proposed change, use the rejection action instead.
  6. Inspect the saved result.

After accepting source candidates, review the resulting Draft claims through Create and review claims.

Ranking suggestions need no separate acceptance. Inspect current evidence and choose what to use through Tailor to a job posting.

Replace a stale suggestion

If River reports changed inputs, review the current material before requesting another proposal.

  1. Inspect the changed evidence, wording, or other dependency.
  2. Start a new task with the intended current inputs.
  3. Review the replacement proposal before accepting it.

For why the earlier proposal cannot be applied unchanged, see Saved versions and local changes.
